Margi Cole/The Dance COLEctive In March 1996, Margi Cole, an independent choreographer and arts administrator, reached out to Chicago’s young, aspiring modern dancers who, like her, were looking for venues to perform their own choreography. Cole combined her dance and choreography skills with her administrative, box office and technical stage experience to create The Dance COLEctive.

For more than 20 years, The Dance COLEctive (TDC) has aspired to challenge assumptions about how dance is presented, through the use of cutting-edge choreography, innovative collaborations, and creative site-specific works. TDC’s 20th anniversary in 2016 was a significant benchmark that distinguished the company as a Chicago institution. Throughout the years, the all-female company, comprising of mostly emerging artists, has contributed to the support of more than 150 collaborating artists and organizations including locally and nationally recognized choreographers, dancers and other artists. TDC has produced more than 80 works, including those created by Margi Cole, guest choreographers and TDC company members.

See Margi Cole on Friday and Saturday, September 8 & 9 at 8:00PM.

Elements Contemporary Ballet is the first and only contemporary ballet company based in Chicago. Combining the beauty of classical technique with contemporary style and verve, Elements Contemporary Ballet advances and explores ballet through the marriage of innovative concepts and classical art. Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Mike Gosney, the company trains and develops its work using the four elements; fire, earth, air, and water; to each represent a major facet of dance; expression, physicality, focus, and freedom. Elements now produces annual concerts in downtown Chicago, performs in local showcases and dance festivals, presents free lecture demonstrations to the public, and provides community outreach through Chicago's Urban Gateways program.

Elements Contemporary Ballet appears Friday and Saturday, September 15 & 16 at 8:00PM.
